Recovering from *Preventing & Avoiding* Fishroom Disasters by Ben Ochart

I started with fish keeping way back in the early 1960’s, after receiving a gift consisting of a five gallon tank from my parents. I was around age 5 or 6 and clearly recall how I was immediately enthralled by the beautiful life I saw living in that cube of water. There were rasboras and a few neon tetras, and I was immediately hooked.

Over the years I continued in the hobby, sometimes taking breaks due to work and family requirements, but my love of fish keeping never wavered.

In the late ‘90’s I uploaded some short videos of my tanks to YouTube. I was immediately impressed by the feedback and help I received from the fish keeping community. This encouraged me to upload more and in the years that followed the channel (@BenOchart) grew to nearly 60,000 subscribers. This was far beyond anything I had expected or predicted.

It’s been and continues to be a great adventure and I appreciate my channel subscribers for coming along for the ride and helping me along the way with advice and tips. One of the mottos of my YouTube channel is, “We all learn from each other,” along with, “Always be learning!”

There are many ways to successfully keep fish and I remain open to discussing all of them at my channel.
